Unique Swedish collaboration resulted in technology modules in armored plate

Within the mission critical field, some customers have extraordinary demands. It might be requirements of high levels of safety, protection, mobility, or extreme durability due to exposure to harsh environments or challenging climates. In a unique collaboration between ENACO, Box Modul, and Swebor, a wholly customized prefabricated solution has been designed for a customer with specific requirements for shell protection with extra high security and protection against external impact.

In 2022, ENACO received a request from a customer with specific requirements for safety and protection. The customer needed a prefabricated, mobile, and secure data center module in armored plating to protect the technology from external impact.

Together with the module manufacturer Box Modul and the steel company Swebor, ENACO started a project to create a solution matching the customer's needs and requirements. Although the companies had yet to work together, all three immediately realized how they could combine their skills into a smart, flexible, and in-demand security product for critical infrastructure. Through outstanding commitment, straightforward dialogue, and a common goal, they could meet the customer's requirements and deliver a unique and fully customized solution.

"At ENACO, we have extensive experience in securing technology for mission critical infrastructure. To build shell protection with such high-security classes, we realized that collaboration with the best suppliers in Sweden was the way to go. Swebor and Box Modul have entered the project with remarkable commitment, professionalism, and customer focus. It has been a successful collaboration from the beginning. I hope this will lead to further joint projects," says Mikael Berggren, CEO of ENACO.

Swebor was founded in 1982, and today the company produces over 20,000 tons of high-quality steel annually for the global market.

"This project allowed us to challenge ourselves. According to the requirements, our development team created special armor plates designed to provide effective shell protection against the threat experienced by the customer. The result was a unique product with an extremely high level of protection against shooting while keeping the weight down to the level requested by the customer," says Petter Eriksson, CEO of Swebor.

In addition to the high level of safety, there are more advantages to the developed module.

“The actual design of the modular solution can be virtually anything. It doesn't have to be a traditional sheet metal box; only your imagination sets the limits. Almost everything is possible when it comes to appearance. Suppose you want the module to have a brick facade that blends in with houses nearby or maybe a red cottage, no problem. The collaboration with ENACO and Swebor has worked very smoothly, and we are proud to be part of the project," says Peter Nordlund, CEO of Box Modul.

After the Corona pandemic, the demand for critical infrastructure protection has increased dramatically, and many organizations are reviewing their technical vulnerability. In addition, concerns about the changing security situation in the world and Russia's war of invasion against Ukraine have driven demand for increased security and shell protection of various kinds. Customers identify an increased need for solutions with armored sheet metal as impact protection for, e.g., facades, vehicles, or mobile modules. Modules to be placed nationally or internationally in problem areas also need reinforced shell protection.
